Finch Restaurant Website Audit

A professional website audit can tell you very quickly where your website is not working for your business. Finch Restaurant in Wildomar is a strong local business with great food, a loyal customer base, and great reviews.

We found that the website may leave visitors confused, and definitely leaves search engines unsure how to classify the business. With a few strategic improvements, the site could communicate what they offer much more clearly, improve conversions, and rank much better in local search.

Below is a fast, high-impact breakdown showing the biggest issues and the fixes that would improve the site immediately.

Website Issues Found in Our Quick 5 Minute Audit

1. No visual or text indication that this is a restaurant

When visiting a website, people take only 3 seconds before going to another website, when things are not clear.

When looking at this page during the website audit, I had to ask myself 'if I didn't already know this is a restaurant, what would I know about it in 3 seconds?' Above the fold, there are no pictures of food, a restaurant, and nothing to indicate they serve food, dining, or cuisine.

Visitors should know in less than 3 seconds that they are looking at a restaurant website.

2. Hero background is wallpaper, not food

Restaurant websites rely on sight-driven desire. Without mouth watering delicious, rich imagery, the emotional impact is lost.

Color theory suggests that orange, yellow, brown and dark red are great colors for restaurants, because they feel warm, and make you hungry.

Unfortunately, green does the opposite, which is the predominant color here.

3. The word "restaurant" appears nowhere on the website

This is a really big SEO failure. Google has no context that the business is a restaurant, which makes ranking in food related searches nearly impossible.

During our website audit and SEO checks, we found the title tag for the home page is 'FINCH', which is a bird. Google has no idea this page is about anything but a bird.

I searched every page on the website for the word 'restaurant', and similar words like 'bistro', but they are nowhere to be found.

4. The H1 tag is "Finch Wildomar"

"Finch" can refer to a bird. "Wildomar" is a city. Nothing here tells Google or visitors that food is served, or that it's a business at all.

Is this a birdwatching website for Wildomar?

5. Phone number is clickable but not visible

While technically functional, it lacks contrast, placement, and visual hierarchy.

As people view website pages, their eyes go from the top left, diagonally across and down to the bottom right. So, having a phone number button stand out in the top right, is important.

6. The "Reserve Now" CTA is too small and redundant

There is a reservation widget below the hero section, and the text is bigger than the button in the middle of the hero.

The hero CTA must be bigger text, stronger, clearer, and more visually dominant. It should be the most visible element of the whole page.

7. Distracting white circle in the hero section

The circle in the center of the hero section kinda just makes me wonder why it's there. It does make the text in the middle pop, but there's no direction or purpose here.

8. Very Little Text Content on the Home Page of the Website

As I take my first scroll down from the hero section, there's an image of the decor of the restaurant, and a big gap. There's a little text after that, but it's very lacking, and again, does not even mention this is a restaurant. This should be stated, not implied.

Fast Fixes for This Local Restaurant Website Audit

Here are a few quick changes we would make to this website, if we were designing it. They can be made very quickly, and help a lot with the conversion, visual communication, and of course, the all important SEO.

1. Update the page title and H1 to Make it Clear

Update the page title, and H1 to ones that literally tell everyone what this website is about. It's a local restaurant in Wildomar, so let's keep things simple here.

Page Title: American Restaurant in Wildomar CA | Finch
H1: American Restaurant in Wildomar CA

This instantly improves clarity and SEO.

2. Improve the phone number and menu CTAs

In the top menu, use a gold button with black text for contrast, with the phone number, and before that add a bold BOOK NOW button.

3. Replace the hero image with strong food photography

Use professional, appetizing food images that make your mouth water... with a subtle, dark overlay to increase contrast, and make the text pop.

4. Craft a stronger hero headline (H2)

Examples:
Finest American Dining in Wildomar
Delicious American Cuisine in the Heart of Wildomar

5. Add a short, compelling subheading

Two short sentences describing the dining experience or signature dish.

6. Use a bold, contrasting CTA button

BOOK NOW in orange, gold, or another contrasting color with bold black text.

7. Keep the reservation section below the H1

Once the hero area is fixed, this section will work effectively.
